After every lockdown, there is always a period of feasting and the last week and a bit has been just that. After sending out the last newsletter, I went to try the burgers at Easey’s, a restaurant that is built using old trains lifted on top of a building!
It was such a novel experience and I’m surprised I haven’t been earlier since it’s been there for years! It also felt all too familiar considering these were the style of trains I used to catch everyday when I was in university.
Food has been a central theme this week. Last night was yet another dinner with a group of friends. This time, it was Korean fried chicken. And a first for me: chicken fondue!
Not my usual style. However, after all the eating, I feel like I need to be on cholestrol tablets and maybe go see a heart specialist…
This is on top of having Malaysian and my mum’s cooking during the week too! In terms of drinks, I prefer my no sugar options or sparkling water, but I have actually gotten a couple of bottles of Jarritos Cola. If you haven’t tried it before, Jarrito’s is a Mexican Cola that’s still formulated like the old soda drinks from when I was a child. The sugar tastes like ACTUAL sugar rather than the high fructose corn syrup and it’s delicious! I can only have about 1/3 of a 300mL bottle at a time, but as a treat, it’s amazing!
On the cat front, I have had a few half days recently. As a result, the cats are far more used to me being around. Til now, they didn’t really jump on unless I was having a lie down on the couch. Now, about 30 seconds after just sitting, Luna will make an attempt to find a lap!
Both cats have been wanting wayyyy more pats lately too. While they still fight, I think they’re slowly getting used to their own territory and living together after over a year and relaxing into the shared life…
